These bits are essentially a straight plunge/cutter with a shank-mount, ball-bearing pilot. Useful for template, patterns, routing of parts, joints and internal cuts. Multi-choice use are in either a handheld machine or in a table-mount router. The template attaches to work-pieces, and the pilot bearing rides along its edge, as the cutting edges rout the workpiece, forming an exact duplicate of the template.  A handheld router, has the patterns on top of the work with a table-mount router and the patterns are underneath the work.
